Oh, how I love a good book. I love the feel of the paper in your hands, the sound the pages make when they turn, and that odd, musty smell they acquire over time. On this lazy afternoon, I find myself leafing through Woman in the Mirror, a compilation of Richard Avedon’s photography. These are my favorites, mostly from the 50’s.

Dress by Lavin-Costillo.
This is my recent favorite. I’ve always loved the idea of wearing exactly what you want, no matter what you’re doing…this probably comes from the fact that a lot of my dresses are not things you normally just throw on to run errands and require some kind of occasion or event, but I still want to wear them every day!

Ahh Suzy Parker! Dress by Dior.

Coat by Cardin
Yes please.
I love the clean, classic lines from this decade. They aren’t complicated or fussy, and the quality and craftsmanship can be seen so easily. The simpler lines really allow the beauty of the actual textiles to show through, and with a bit of re-styling they could successfully be worn today.
What’s your favorite fashion decade?
Happily yours,

love love love the blog! hmm what is my favorite fashion decade?…prob. a combination of the 50s “I cook in this fabulously poofy dress” and the 70s “sequins are awesome and who doesn’t want to be more like ABBA” attitude. Love you!
