Real Weddings: Meet Lulie

March 2nd, 2011

Meet Lulie…a bit eclectic, a bit bohemian, a bit gypsy…a love for life shines through this woman for all the world to see. Lulie is a friend of mine who I’ve always found to be highly inspirational in ways both related to fashion and beyond. An artist with a great eye, she combines pieces and accessories in ways that work amazingly together, but that you would never think of (and also possess ridiculously covetable curly hair…gah!).  Lulie let me do the bridesmaids dresses for her wedding last year, and I’m excited to share the photos with you.  It’s quite clear that her artistic point of view came through in every detail of this beautiful event!

Amazing, right!?

Many thanks to Jessica Purvis Photography for the beautiful pictures- check her out here:  jessicapurvis.com

Won’t you be mine?

February 13th, 2011

I don’t know how you feel about it, but I am not one of those super into or super anti Valentine’s Day people.  I don’t like the forced mushiness, but it sure as heck doesn’t make me feel sad or lonely either.  What I DO like about it is things like this….

…or maybe this…

So basically, not much has changed since the 5th grade, and I use all holidays as an excuse for treats.

Also, you may or may not remember this one from last year’s post, but it is one of my all time favorite things I’ve found on the interwebs, so here it is again for your viewing pleasure.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happily Yours,

Carol Hannah

Real Weddings: Meet Katie

February 5th, 2011

Making wedding gowns does not get old to me.  Hearing the stories of the meetings, the engagements, and the many, many exciting plans of two such happy people just never gets old.  I am keenly aware of how personal the whole gown experience is,  and working with a close friend makes it even more so. It’s one of my favorite things about bridal- you have the opportunity to use fashion to connect with people and build relationships.

As such, I wanted to share these photos of my very dear friend Katie’s November wedding and her custom satin faced organza gown with sculptured detailing and floral embellishment.

Meet Katie Bell, newly Katie Ward.  Isn’t she lovely?

So cute with her new Mister.

Here is a little bit of the behind the scenes business of making this custom gown…

Every single strip of organza is separately pinned and then sewn onto the duchess satin silk base.  Every. Single. One.

Each layer is arranged one at a time and some layers are made wavey to create more texture with the sweep of the train.

This was truly one of my favorite things I’ve made.  Thank you to Katie for letting me be part of your day!

Happily Yours,

Carol Hannah

Real Wedding: Meet Allison

January 10th, 2011

There aren’t really words to explain how much I enjoy these photos from Allison’s  Lowndes Grove wedding, so I’ll let them do the talking…

Pinckney Street dresses in silk chiffon, light silver and aqua.

Photography by Juliet Elizabeth.

Event Production by Ellen Robinson and Hannah Alexander at WED.

In addition, Allison works in the wedding invitations and graphic design industry and as such had some of the most gorgeous save the dates and invitations I’ve seen.  Check out Studio R  Design for more beauties.
