Eyecandy: From my Sketchbook

December 1st, 2011

I have recently been tooling around with watercolors, and decided to experiment with adding color to my sketching.  It’s so fun!  We’ll see where this goes, but just thought I’d share.

Hope you are all enjoying a lovely day!

Introducing Happily Yours: The Affordable Fairytale

November 27th, 2011

You asked for wedding gown options for a wider range of budgets, and we listened!

Spellbound

Starlight

Revered

Charmed

Ya’ll have amazing taste, style to spare, and you don’t want to choose between your ideal gown and the band you want for your reception.  Why should you?  One of my very least favorite things in the world is hearing that a girl’s first choice was one of my gowns, but that she settled on her second choice because of price.  Seriously, ya’ll, it’s THE worst.

That said, I am very excited to introduce…Happily Yours!  Fresh off the design floor and now shipping all over the world, this new collection is sold exclusively in our online store {or our NYC studio}, which means that we can help you stay in your budget without sacrificing quality, style, or service.  Modern streamlined silhouettes, the same luscious silk fabrics of our main collection, neverending styling options…as always, made by hand right here in NYC.

Starting at $895, find the perfect gown and make it your own with our expanded accessories selection.  {After all, style is really in how you wear it.}  Shop the new collection, and use code “Happily” to receive free shipping through Dec 10th!

Not in love? Not a problem.  We know online shopping can be tricky, so these gowns are kept in stock and may be returned for a refund or exchange.  For more info on the Happily Yours collection and it’s policies, see our FAQ section.

We are always here to help and love hearing about your wedding plans, so feel free to reach out for advice, second opinions, or answers to your questions!

And the Winner is…!

November 10th, 2011

Y’all really outdid yourselves!  This year’s costume contest winner was tough to choose.  I had a lot of favorites, but in the spirit of promoting creativity and craftiness, the winner made ALL of their costume.  Actually, they made FOUR!

Congratulations to Hilary Niederhauser and the Hungry Hungry Hippos!  You are the winner of the $150 credit for our online shop!

Apparently, the heads were even built on welding masks so they could toggle up and down.

I’m impressed.

These are some of my other favorites:

“Rosie the Riveter”

A life-size strawberry poptart made from scratch?!  Yes.

The best baby costume!

“Hairy Paw-ter”  I’m such a sucker for this.

Amazing!  Thank you to everyone who entered for sharing such fun with us!

Happily Yours,

Carol Hannah

PS-

I was a rose and had a blast at Heidi Klum’s over the top Halloween Extravaganza!

Real Weddings: Meet Mary

November 1st, 2011

Mary isn’t just a bride- she may, in fact, be a wedding wizard.

I had the pleasure of helping Mary choose her gown at our trunk show early this year at Sash & Bustle in Toronto, and we had such a good time hanging out with her family!  As she described her vision for her wedding, I knew it was going to be something really special.  Fast forward many months, and the result is this completely enchanting set of photos thanks to Alex Neary of Wild Eyed Photography.

With hand pleated ruffles and tea-dyed silk, the Anson Street gown’s organic and textural feel perfectly complemented the woodland venue and vintage details.

Congrats Mary and Ben!

Happily Yours,

Carol Hannah

Bridal Market Recap

October 28th, 2011

Wow!  I can’t believe Bridal Market has come and gone already!  This past weekend was full of meetings with stores, chatting with press and bloggers, and some of the most amazing shindigs of the year. (Bridal market is more or less the equivalent of fashion week in ready to wear.) Here are some of my favorite photos.

With the ladies of Lovely and Ivy and Aster at Collin Cowie’s celebration at the Chelsea Arts Center.

Collin Cowie speaks about the launch of his new website, which is pretty incredible I have to say.  Check it out and see what they have to say about our line here.

I wore the Flights of Fancy skirt in black with a casual top with a military feel.  I like mixing dressy and casual pieces.  It keeps things from feeling like you’re trying too hard.

At the Martha Stewart Weddings party.  Introducing my assistant Dara!  Give us a call, and you will find out how nice she is!

This installation at Martha Stewart was pretty amazing.  It definitely didn’t feel like we were in their offices.

The New York Public Library for The Knot Gala

Wow, right?!  This is what happens when people who obsess over weddings and party details for a living throw an event.  All in all, these were amazing nights with some pretty funny moments…like meeting some of my favorite designers on the dance floor or sharing french fries with “Say Yes to the Dress” ’s Randy Fenoli.  It’s always fun to meet so many incredibly talented people who are truly passionate about and love what they do.

Now back to work- not quite as glamorous, but just as fun!

Happily Yours,

Carol Hannah

Annual Halloween Costume Contest!

October 24th, 2011

It’s that time of year again!

For the third year in a row, we are having a Halloween costume contest!  I want to see what your creative minds are up to!

The winner will receive a $150 gift certificate valid towards anything in our online shop!

The rules:

-You must make at least part of your costume.  The more you make, the more points you get.

-It can be your your own costume, your kid’s, or your pet’s!

-No “sexy” cop-outs.  Like taking something normal and being the sexy version.  Though scary, that’s Halloween cheating in my book.

Email your pictures to me at carolhannah@carol-hannah.com by Monday, November 7th!  Good luck, and have fun!

Happily Yours,

CH

Real Weddings: Meet Cameron

October 12th, 2011

How lovely does Cameron look in her Beaufain Street gown?  We modified the neckline of this stunner especially for her, and we think it turned out perfectly for their Magnolia Plantation wedding!

Congrats Cameron!
